Audrey Cape

I saw this pattern today and I just HAD to make one for Katherine. Here is her new black and white Audrey Cape. It will go just perfect with her red Christmas dress! I think I will be making her a brown one...ooohhh or a winter white one too! As soon as I learn how to make a button hole, I will get a picture of Kate wearing it!

Cape tutorial: http://projectrunandplay.blogspot.com/2011/09/audrey-cape-tutorial.html
It only took about 1 hour to complete.

I will be making a brown one tomorrow (oh the liner is my favorite part). Be sure to check back for more pictures.

Book Nook

I'm so excited to start transitioning the kids' room from a nursery to a big kid's room! First step is to design their reading book nook. I just ordered some vinyl words for the wall, "Super Heroes and Fairy Tales". Check out this site for some great prices and ideas
http://wordsanywhere.com/predesigned-and-graphics/predesigned-childrens-details.htm?id=PDC211%20-%20Super%20Heroes%20Fairy%20Tales&cat=2

The kids have a big bookshelf that contains all of their books, but I am looking for something small that can hang on the wall to hold a few of them.

I'm moved their Pink and Blue chairs that are currently in the living room to the new "Book Nook". I might start looking for bean bag chairs, but I want to get the nook set up with things I have in the house first.

Eventually, I want to put a small table and lamp between the chairs (when they get a little older) and maybe "tent" the reading nook...again, when they get a little older.

So many batteries!

Like most parents with kids, we have obtained every size and shape battery...some rechargeable and some not. We use to have them in a bucket in a drawer. I have discovered that a tackle box is the perfect size for a battery container! It is fully customized and only$5!
Rechargeable on the left, Alkaline on the right and a baggy for "dead" batteries to be recycled! I love even more that it can be latched and stored on its side!!

Capes!

Reversible capes for the kids! So I have come to
the conclusion that procrastination is the best
motivation. It seems that I would rather sew than
train for my half marathon...but the half will not run
itself...so I must return to running in the mornings.
There are much fewer excuses at 530am.
But the kids so love their capes!

Playing in new house

Do I know my kids? I made sure to reinforce the
windows extra well.
First snack in their new house
It's an excellent place to read too!

New House

Small space requires ingenuity. I made a "house"
coverlet for our dining table. It now doubles as the
kids play house! And stores away small and easily!
I do need to hem it, but I ran out of time before the
kids came home from school.

Now I want to add flowers and decals to it!

The other side is the "boy" side. It has blue dog paw
print fabric and dog window trim.

Alphabet board

This is what I have come up with since our fridge isn't magnetic.
The kids LOVE IT! (yes, my kids are naked AGAIN).

I got an alphabet poster for a teaching store and used rubber cement to paste it to the metal. The oil pan had a grease coating on it which came off with SimpleGreen. I didn't want to put (or try to put a hole in it for hanging) a hole in it so I use the 3M picture hanging velcro. It worked famously and at only 22 months old! When the master the alphabet, I hope to make a new board with phonic sounds.

Royal Wedding Watching Hats

Nana and I decided we needed hats to watch Cate marry Prince William!
For 2 non crafty ladies, I think we did very well and I think we should
start our very own hat business!

From Socks to Sock Puppets

The kids made sock puppets and just love playing with them. They like to chase each other with them.
